Dovo Shavette Straight Razor, Stainless Steel Handle. The dovo shavette is great product its very light greatly priced i recommend it i get a clean shave from it, mine came with three blade holders one red for short blade two blacks for long blades one has comb teeth on it. Recommend that you buy extra red holder for it they were out through time
Dovo Shavette Straight Razor, Blue with Black Handle This is my first time using a "straight razor." I wanted to see if I really wanted to go down this path or just stick to the known(plastic handle, twin razor, throw it in the trash after a couple of shaves). After watching a number of video's on Youtube(for the sake of your face, do some research), I had a good idea of what I needed to do. I was very surprised at how light the razor was. After getting used to holding it the right way, I started shaving, full face! It was fairly easy! I not saying that it was pretty, but I got the job done and I didn't cut myself. The pros: good price to see if you want to use a straight razor. Three different "blade" holders. Light weight. Felt good in my hand. Con: Ok, so this is just being picky... but I felt like the black handle was a bit flimsy. But not so much I wouldn't buy it again. And for price you are paying, you are getting a really good entry shaver that I think you could be happy using all the time. Again, very happy that I bought this straight razor.
Feather Artist Club SS Japanese Razor, Black.I consider this razor to be somewhat of a hybrid between a safety razor and a straight razor due to its ease of use on certain areas. The handle has a nice soft grip to it that allows it to be used with wet hands. The rolled edge creates a nice, smooth, and forgiving shave with the correct blade. The finish and quality of this razor is excellent. Maintence is snap and takes no time or effort at all.
Feather Artist Club SS Razor, Black The build quality is amazing and the shave even more so. One needs to be a bit careful for the first 2-3 shaves, but from there on, its amazingly close and comfortable as well. Feather blades last for >10 shaves ...
KAI Captain Standard Folding Razor "I'll be honest, I completely ignored the "not for the faint of heart" suggestion in the product description. I guess you could say I'm bold (or really foolish). Anyway, this was my first ever foray into "straight razor/shavette" wet shaving. I had never even held one in my hand until this got delivered to my house. I've been using a safety razor for the past two years and boy did the Captain come with a learning curve. The first shave, my face looked like I had gone through the medieval Asian torture "death of a thousand cuts." However, through steady, patient practice and lots of YouTube videos, I can say now that I can get a proper shave without cutting myself at all. I'm not sure, but I can assume that other, cheaper shavettes would probably be a better beginner option than this. However, this thing leaves my face so hairless that I think it has the power to revert puberty. As a standalone product, it is exceptional. Probably not for a novice, like I myself was when I got this, but you simply will not get a closer shave than this. And none of the hassle of a true straight razor. Just a pop blade once a week (daily shaving) and you're good to go. Easy to disassemble, clean, disinfect, dry, and put back together. And unlike a straight razor, you won't develop sloppy habits/cut at unnatural angles cause your bald has dulled and you can get away with it. This thing will punish you if you don't concentrate. Overall, I can safely say someone would be very happy with product in the end and I would gladly recommend this.
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor This razor is a good starter to wet shaving and it's reasonably priced, however there's definately better strait razors out there. This one doesn't work too good with a split double edge blade and when I first opened the box, it seemed a little rough around the edges. It's still a good razor though.
Feather Artist Club DX Japanese Razor "The short version: This is a very easy to use, aggressive straight razor that is expertly designed and crafted. This is an excellent razor and I would recommend it to anyone from someone new to straight razors (myself) to experts. Before we start, my level of straight razor shaving is close to none. I attempted it with some genuine straights (not shavettes) and all they did was pull on my beard. I also found them to be ungainly and clumsy to use. They were too big where I didn't want them to be big and the handles were too long. It was difficult to get my technique and an overall painful experience. I wanted to restart though. My neck is extremely sensitive and I keep hearing about how straights are excellent for that issue. The Japanese straights solved the length issue. They were not lying either. Straight razors are excellent for shaving necks. It was between the SS and the DX and I went with the DX. I will probably pick up the SS too. Other reviews I read say they are both great and the blades are interchangeable. First off, I think I need to mention the grip. I wouldn't typically include this in a review, but it is so different from holding a straight that if you don't understand how to hold it, you won't have a good time. You hold this razor like you would hold a knife. You pinch it where the blade tapers to the handle, just above the razor blade. This allow maximum control over the blade, making it very easy to maneuver. The blade is a nearly perfect length. It isn't so long as to make finding flat surfaces on my face difficult but it is longer (and sharper) than a DE blade by about half. It is also wide enough to make shaving my upper lip relatively easy, though I still have problems with it. The DX is pure joy to use. It is terrifying at first but one I found the proper angles to use on my side burns, it glides. It contours to my neck once I figured out how to hold it and stretch my skin the correct way. Also, because it is so sharp and the blade is so exposed, I find that I self limit pressure. By the second shave, I had no razor burn, even on my neck. I also love not having to worry about honing. I understand this isn't a genuine straight razor, but it is really easy to use and it is really pleasant. The blades are extremely sharp and glide easily over my skin. My wife is happy that I get to remove shaving stuff from our house. It is a win-win. I should also mention that the DX is very aggressive. I used the blades that attempt to prevent nicks and nearly the entire honed surface is exposed. This might be to mimic a genuine straight razor experience. This is also pure stainless, so it doesn't rust. In my apartment, anything that can rust in the bathroom, does. It is also trivially simple to take apart and clean but the blade stays held in place. Basically, with this razor, you get what you pay for and then some.
Feather Artist Club SS Razor, Lime. This razor is much lighter than the Feather DX, but DON'T let that fool you! Best used with their Pro Guard Blades until you can really handle this. A light (dare I say Feather..?) touch with careful control of angle of attack (or it will do that to you) gives unimaginably smooth results. They have upped the ante on their DX styles with this one, because the weight of this one is so much closer to a real straight. Master shaving with this one, then you will be able to handle any razor. And the price point here is better than any other site for this razor.
Feather Artist Club SS Japanese Razor, Black.Another take on it from The Gentleman's Club. The razor with everything to gain and nothing to lose. All positives and no defects. Watch the video: Beginners How To Shave With A Straight Razor | Feather Tutorial: https://youtu.be/VO5uF4N2N0o
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor I also have the Dovo Shavette, which I'll be comparing this to. I'm a lazy son of a bitch. Wanted that straight razor shave without the maintenance of care for a traditional straight edge. Maybe one day I'll have the time to keep up a straight razor and invest over a hundred on a decent blade, but this does the trick. It has some drawbacks, the grip is very two-dimensional, with no jibbing to prevent it from slipping, and there is some carbon in the nooks and crannies from the factory that is really annoying. Even at this price range it seems it should come cleaner. Hence the one star off. Overall very pleased, especially at the price point. Compared to the Dovo, the Parker is hands down better quality, with better weight to it. One thing I like about the Dovo Shavette is the under-nose shave since it is shorter, you can get at the hairs a lot easier. Also, I really don't like the plastic sleeve that you have to use with the Dovo.
Dovo Shavette Straight Razor, Blue with Black Handle This is my first straight razor and i absolutely love it. I made the switch to a straight razor as i have sensitive skin and get razor bumps and irritation very badly from cartridge razors you buy at big box stores. So I now have this razor and it is great. Easy to grip and light in the hands. No irritation to my skin at all using this razor. Came with 3 blade holders and a sample short blade and sample long blade. I will be recommending this razor to anyone that asks me about it.
Feather Artist Club SS Razor, Black The razor is well balanced and has a weighted feel to it.... Best straight razor in my collection.... I have one for the road and one for home...
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor The quality and appearance of the Parker SR1 is phenomenal and having the ability to use the DE blades I already owned (snapped in half) made this purchase a no brainer! I am very satisfied with my purchase and with the phenomenal service provided by West Coast Shaving!
Parker SRW Barber Straight Razor "lovin it
Feather Artist Club SS Razor, Black The Feather Artist Club SS Razor has given me the closest shave I have ever had and is smooth in the process. I love using straight razors. I love the lore and the process of stropping and honing. I have two Dovos and two Hart Steels. I love that I never have to worry about running out of blades. If I shave on a Sunday afternoon with one of my Dovos or Hart Steels and I do 3 passes, I will not have to shave until Tuesday. (when I used an electric razor, I could shave twice a day). When I use the Feather SS, I can get away with not shaving until Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. I knew that Feather makes ridiculously sharp blades from my safety razor use. I use Feather blades in my Merkur Futur. I decided that I would give Feather's straight razor a try. It was without a doubt the closest shave I have ever had. The first pass was with the Feather just about as close as two passes with my regular straight razors. Two passes with the Feather AC SS and it was as BBS as three passes with the stropped and honed straights. The second pass is so close that if I did a third pass I would only be scraping off skin. I do have to be extra careful with the Feather as it is less forgiving than the Dovo or Hart Steel. The Feather Artist Club SS requires just a light touch. It is also astoundingly smooth for such a scarily sharp blade. I am happy to add the Feather SS to my rotation. I also cannot imagine a better shave. If you enjoy straight razor shaving, or would like to have one of the closest shaves ever, I would recommend adding this tool to your repertoire.
Feather Artist Club DX Folding Pearl Razor.Feather blades are unparalleled for sharpness and with good technique provide comfort as well. I enjoy my DX and find that when I'm in the mood for the best straight razor shave this is my go to razor. I also enjoy my carbon steel straights but find that with the Feather blades they cut just a tad closer and with the added sharpness a smoother shave is attained with less strokes and hence less irritation. The learning curve is up to you but once you get the correct blade angle and pressure the rest is pure nirvana.
Dovo Shavette Straight Razor, Stainless Steel Handle "Dang. It's light. Had the tip guard. Can see the blade well with the red holder. My go to razor.
Parker PTW Straight Razor, White.I bought this razor primarily as a way to practice my skills at the straight razor, without cost and maintenance. It's quality is ok, nothing to flashy, but not the worst. Overall I believe that this razor is worth the one time investment.
Dovo Shavette Straight Razor, Stainless Steel Handle "I've been looking for something to trim the top of my mustache under my nose. The narrow width of the blade holder makes that possible. In the interest of full disclosure, I probably shouldn't call what I'm using it for shaving. But, I can pick off one hair at a time and make it work. I dinged it one star just because of the flimsy feel. Yes, it is light and easy to control in tight quarters as I mentioned. But, the overall feel is maybe just a little too light. Not a big deal, but it's not a very expensive piece of equipment either.
Feather Artist Club SS Razor, Lime. This is a heck of a razor for having replaceable blades. Super smooth shave, easy changeable blades and great balance make this an amazing razor. I will definitely echo one of the other reviewers comments, if this is your first Feather or first straight razor period do your self a favor and pair this beauty with the Pro-Guard Blades until you have this razor figured out. Great price for a great shave.
Dovo Shavette Straight Razor, Stainless Steel Handle.I bought this a few years back (for much more expensive than this actually, $30 is a great price) and have been using it on and off since. The construction is great all around, except for the plastic part when it's out of its position inside the shavette. All in all it's a great introduction into the feel of SR shaving and I highly recommend it! My only issues with this are the blades that came with my shavette (Feather), the shavette itself has been fantastic!
Feather Artist Club SS Razor, Black A little background, I make my living a a general surgeon, I'll leave this up to the pros. It's much like motorcycle riding, unless you accept that this is an extremely dangerous hobby and that you may be seriously injured and are OK with it, don't do it.
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor My first experience, not only with a straight razor, with this company. Fast shipping, great email communication. Will definitely be using this company for future purchases.
Feather Artist Club SS Razor, Black First & foremost, S/O to Westcoastshaving for having the lowest price by a large margin. As a teenager, who's only been using electric ones up until a month ago, I finally made the inevitable switch to wet shaving and purchased what's considered to be the best DE razor made, an R1 atlas by ATT but it was not an easy transition and the finish after the final pass was subpar and time consuming compared to the electric Braun. So inspired by a scene in the latest 007, I purchased this razor and started to practice on lathered up balloons- which I recommend- and work on leverage and handle with both hands. Future school systems should and will teach boys how to use a device like this so they can raise MEN!
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor "I love this thing!!!! Shaved like a dream, keeps my beard lined perfectly, i even shaped my girlfriend's eyebrows with it
KAI Captain Standard Folding Razor.Got one of this Japanese beauty from a friend. I have previously used Feather and straight razor, safety razor as well so i can compare to something here. The shape and quality of this razor is outstanding, flawless. It shaves close with no irritation compare to other shavettes. Easy to maintain- just drop a fresh blade inside and have 7 fresh shaves or more depending on blade choice.
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor Much better than expected. Good weight and solid feel. For the price it is an excellent choice.
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor Purchased this as my first straight razor after switching to DE about a year ago. Perfect shaves and no irritation!
Feather Artist Club SS Japanese Razor, Black. This SS Kamisori style razor is my first straight razor. Using proper shaving angles, the new SS version is an easy to use, forgiving straight razor, in spite of the super sharp blades, because of the rounded bottom which spreads the pressure against the skin, creating a moving, leading edge V-shaped notch into which the blade glides. The rounded bottom helps to press the skin down slightly ahead of the blade. The rounded bottom effect combined with the 0.20 mm reduced blade exposure, provides a comfortable, forgiving yet close shave. No stropping, No honing- Just razor & blades for easy convenient straight shaves.
Feather Artist Club SS Razor, Black Been using this system for the last year, Mon thru Fri, when I don't have time for full and proper straight razor shave prep. Lather up, "wipe" the whiskers off, rinse, and go! Super simple, super smooth, and very satisfying. One blade easily lasts seven days.
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor It is a gift for my husband's birthday that is coming up this weekend.
Parker SRW Barber Straight Razor Good
Dovo Shavette Straight Razor, Stainless Steel Handle.Per boyfriend handles great compared to other but needs to ship w full length blade. Great value for price.
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor As stated above--this thing is functional. Not pretty, but put your favorite blade (Cut a DE blad in half) and go to town. I bought this to try out the "feeling" of a straight edge. I will now by a proper straight edge
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor "This should be one of the alternatives if you are thinking about switching to a straight razor but are uncertain of your ability to shave with a straight razor, to strop a straight razor, and to hone a straight razor. It takes regular DE blades that you snap in half while they are still in the paper. Your shave will depend on techniques and the quality of the DE blade, not your sharpening skills. Light weight. Average to low finish quality. But very functional. If this is your first foray into the world of a straight edge, make sure you also buy an alum block, a styptic pencil and good after shave balm. You WILL cut yourself. You WILL have serious razor burn. And your shave will NOT be very close until you learn the technique. Good fun for less than $20. Not a Feather, but solid value for the price point.
Parker SRW Barber Straight Razor "I wish you had specified that the blades I ordered with this were too big!
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor It's my first straight razor and for the price it's a good razor that works well for me.
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor "This was my first time using a straight razor. I wanted to go with something affordable first. There is a learning curve, at least for me anyway, but once I got the hang of it I really liked it. This straight razor in particular works just fine. Something to remember though, this replaceable one does not come with blades. You'll have to buy those separately.
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor Great beginers straight . Good way to test run this form of shave with out spending a lot .
Parker SR1 Barber Straight Razor I was very pleased with the product I received. The quality and craftsmanship was superior in comparison to the blade I received. The deal breaker was the price I paid. Thanks West Coast Shaving!
Dovo Shavette Straight Razor, Black Handle Ordered the Dovo shavette as well as the Parker Barber. Impressed with both. The items arrived on time. I will definitely purchase again and recommend any of these items. Thank you.
Parker SRW Barber Straight Razor very fast shipping, Thank you for customer service. Love West Coast Shaving.
Dovo Shavette Straight Razor, Stainless Steel Handle. This light weight German made shavette is an ideal product to learn the art of shaving with a straight razor because you can feel what's going on. With heavier types of shavettes it's more difficult to feel the slight nuances to get the correct angle. Free shipping is an absolute ridiculous joke. First order took ELEVEN days! Second order took TEN days!! Lame
