Astra Superior Platinum Double Edge Razor Blades Only reason I am not giving this blade a full 5 stars is this is the 1st DE blade I have ever used. Nothing to compare it too except those peak pain in the tail disposable cartridge blades. A very pleasant transition to wet shaving partly due to this blade. Will definitely buy it again.

Feather Double Edge Razor Blades "I like PolSilver and Astras better. They don't nick like the Feathers do. Plus, they're twice the price when an Astra or PolSilver shaves smoother and just as close.

Feather Double Edge Razor Blades I received a 10 pack of feathers in a sample pack that I purchased from this site. The Feather Blades are a great blade. They are sharp and give a close shave but weren't fabled shredders everyone makes them out to be. a great second to my go to Astra blades.

Derby Extra Double Edge Razor Blades.I personally, don't care to shave with these blades they are a bit on the dull side and I feel a lot of pulling when attempting to shave with these. I prefer sharper blades. It may be that if you are used to using a less sharp blade and applying a bit more pressure then these blades may work well for you. Personally I prefer the feather blades in my Edwin Jagger razor.

A close shave but doesn't last....

Personna Medical Prep Double Edge Razor Blades, 100-pak.These blades do get a close shave, however they don't last especially if you're using a mild safety razor. This was my first blade purchase and these blades only last for 2 shaves. They will also perform better in more aggressive and heavier safety razor. So far the Feather blades are my favorite.

Feather Double Edge Razor Blades (100 Blades).A little pricey, but it does make up in performance. The first shave with each blade, for me at least, is the "break-in" shave. Extra care has to be take as these are outstandingly keen blades. Each shave thereafter is sweet. 1 blade can last me a week - ~5-6 shaves.

Gillette Silver Blue Double Edge Razor Blades, 5-pak "This Gillette Silver Blue blade provides a good blend of sharpness and smoothness. It doesn't have the excellent smoothness of my gold-standard Gillette Minora blades, which don't appear to be available on this site now. The Silver Blues can take down four days of beard growth as well as performing admirably in daily shaving. I usually only get 2 or 3 shaves per blade because of my dense, coarse beard and these blades last about as long as is typical for me.

Feather AC ProGuard Blade 15-Pack.I got these to go with my non folding japanese Feather razor and these were pretty good. No nicks or cuts with these blades, but I get a better shave with a saftey razor due to my sensitive skin. So if you want a good shave with the Feather AC system, start with these blades first until you get use to it then go from there.

Wilkinson Sword Double Edge Razor Blades I am new to safety razors and I started with 5 types of blades; Astra, Lord Super Chrome, Pol Silver, Personna Red and Wilkinson. The Wilkinson gave me a smooth comfortable shave and lasted 6 shaves for me. The Wilkinson's were second most expensive after the Pol Silver's. So while found the Wilkinson's to be a good blade for me, the Lord's performed just as well and are less expensive. Keep in mind that all people have different beards and skin types, so test different blades.

A good starter blade

Derby Extra Double Edge Razor Blades.I started wet shaving with Derby blades and feel like they are a good starter blade. I find that they are more forgiving than some of the other brands I use (Wilkinson Sword and Feather). It was great while I was getting used to the new razor and finding the right soap for my skin. I stuck with them for several months until I had mastered it. I still happily use them, especially on my head.

A Great Sampling of Blades

Rating:
Pros:
Cons:
DE Blade Sampler Pack, Extended.First of all, I??m returning to DE shaving after a 40+ year hiatus (way too long) so I thought a good sampling of blades along with the new Merkur 38C would be wise. I ordered both on a Monday and I was shaving with all the new stuff on Thursday. Great service on all accounts from West Coast Shaving. I was told by WCS customer service the blades, in order of sharpness, were as follows (least sharp to sharpest): Derby, Bic, Dorco, Crystal, Astra, Merkur, Red Personna, Gillette, Feather. FOR ME (heavier beard but not walrus-like), here are my findings: I found the Derby to shave okay but it??s not too sharp. Bic should stick to making pens and lighters. Not a great shave. The Dorco was a bit better than the above, but not the closest shave. There was a bit of tugging and some irritation from all three of these. The Crystal was smoother, but still not the closest shave. The Astra is where I started noticing the biggest difference. Shaving was smoother, no tugging, and just a wee bit of irritation. The Merkur and Personna both gave a good clean shave, hardly any razor burn, no nicks. The Gillette 7 o??clock was a step above. Very close shave, no irritation or burn; a very sharp blade. The Feather was the best of the lot for me. Very, very sharp providing a smooth, clean shave, no tugging, no irritation whatsoever. This is the blade I settled on. Another couple of notes about the Feathers: Most of the reviews imply that if you don??t have your technique down pat there is a good chance of self-beheading during your morning shave. I didn??t find anything of the sort. Yeah, they are sharp, but with a bit of experience you shouldn??t have any problems. Of course, this can depend on the aggressiveness of your razor, too. As mentioned, I have a heavier beard (the gray seems to make it worse). I get 3-4 really good shaves from one Feather blade. I tried six shaves and although the last one was okay, you could definitely notice the blade not cutting very well. Sorry for the wall of text, but I wanted to give as much info as I could about my results with the blades I tried. I feel the extended sampler pack is a great choice as it offers a fairly comprehensive sampling of blades.

A major quandry

Shark Super Stainless Double Edge Razor Blades, 5-pak.Shark Super Stainless: These are the strangest blades I?ve ever used. They are much more comfortable to use than any of the other blades from Lord in Egypt. They produce the best shave I have ever gotten on my cheeks, but on my chin and neck, the shave is only marginally acceptable. I would need to use a different blade for those areas to benefit from the wonderful shave on my cheeks.

A Must Try Blade, but Your Mileage May Vary

Rating:
Pros:
Cons:
Feather Double Edge Razor Blades Why did I give the highest quality blade on the market 4 stars instead of 5? The reason is that they didn't work well for me. There are reasons why the sharpest blades aren't always the best choice for each skin type. In my case the blades improved as they dulled down with days 3 and 4 being the most comfortable shave. Days 1 and 2 had excellent close shaves, but too much irritation compared to slightly duller blades. However, they are on the MUST TRY list for everyone.

A Nearly Perfect Blade

Rating:
Pros:

Red Personna Israeli Double Edge Razor Blades - UK Packaging (100 blades) For my face, these blades represent a perfect middle ground between sharpness and smoothness. Forgiving, but still capable of delivering a great shave, even in a mild razor. I've been using them a long time, and only got one dud, so these are pretty consistent blades, too. If Feathers are too sharp, and Derbys too dull, you need to try these blades. The price for 100 is pretty unbeatable. Thanks for the great deal WCS!

A nice blade for intermediate and advanced shavers

Astra Superior Platinum Double Edge Razor Blades (100 Blades) I've come to really enjoy this particular blade. Astras are good and sharp, and they produce a very close shave. They might be too sharp for a beginner. However, for as sharp as they are, I find them quite forgiving, especially on my sensitive neck. My only complaint is that I can only manage 2, 3-pass shaves out of a blade. The first 2 shaves are about equal quality, but I can feel the blade dragging come the third shave. An otherwise great blade.

Gillette Silver Blue Double Edge Razor Blades, 5-pak.These are really good and forgiving DE blades but if you're using a mild safety razor you'll need to make an extra pass. Other than that, these blades are perfect for beginners that want a close smooth shave without the nicks and cuts that you'd get from a sharper blade such as Feather. They're very forgiving blades. I would buy them again, but Feather is my first choice.

A Remarkable Blade - requires the right handling and careful pressure

Rating:
Pros:
Cons:
Feather Double Edge Razor Blades (100 Blades). The Feather blade is a remarkable blade but one that requires the right handling and careful use of pressure in the shaving technique. In other words, it is a highly responsive blade. I have enjoyed it in my iKon OSS DLC AND OLDER 2013 model. I found it difficult to use in the Weber Classic and the iKon Slant razor - perhaps because of their more aggressive blade exposure? I would like to share this great link that helps to understand blade comfort and blade efficiency. I would like to mention that the Feather blade performs remarkably in the new Feather AS-D2 razor -- it seems to greatly smooth and bring control to the Feather blade but retains all,of the sharpness one comes to expect and appreciate with the Feather Hi-Stainless blades -- I am not aware of a better razor and blade combination to date! Red Personna Israeli Double Edge Razor Blades.I tried these because of the reviews here. At the advise of a friend I have used Iridums since starting this adventure in Wet Shaving. Now that production has been suspended, I am searching for a new blade. ai didn't belive a budget blade could perform as well as the Iridums. I was dead wrong. I have a very heavy beard and sensitive skin. The Red Personna gives me 3 close 3 pass shaves with great comfort and performance. Truly a fine product.

KAI Stainless Steel DE Blades, 5-pack "I agree 100% with the reviewer before me. This is a superb blade. As sharp as the Feather, but in my opinion and experience, much smoother. Feather, Polsilver Super Iridium, and Bolzano Superinox are my top three. The list just got shook up. First time that I can get a blade to last me past 5 shaves, 3 excellent, and 2 very good. My skin is hyper sensitive, 3 was my max with any blade. Kai has opened my eyes. Just wish I would have tried them a whole lot sooner.

DORCO ST-300 Double Edge Razor Blades (100 Blades).Razor blades, like everything else in wetshaving, are a truly subjective thing: one man's dream blade is the next man's WMD. For my beard (and shaving routine), the Dorco 300 a dream-come-true: a blade that offers up a near-perfect combination of sharpness *and* smoothness, are highly consistent from blade to blade, and literally cost chump-change. I get a minimum of 4-5 shaves per blade, making the blades' value more prominent. Not necessarily a blade for everyone, but name me a blade that is!

Gillette 7 O'clock SharpEdge Double Edge Razor Blades (5 Blades).Gillette 7 O?clock Sharp Edge (Yellow Pack)(Dubai): These are made in Russia for Gillette. These are amazing blades producing a very close, comfortable shave. Little pulling tugs or nicks. They do require a very precise technique to avoid cuts and nicks. These blades should yield 8 or so quality shaves.
