Feather D-2
Feather AS-D2 Stainless Safety Razor Love it, I used the D-1 for several years, best razor I ever had, it still looks brand new, and I shave every day, so I decided to try the D-2. This is for sure the best razor I have ever used. Anyone that has not tried a Stainless Feather, needs to ! And buy it from West Coast : )
Dual Wield shaving
Feather AS-D2 Stainless Safety Razor I have very sensitive skin with Rosacea and a tough beard which makes shaving a bit sketchy and will result in razor burn if I make more than two passes. The Feather works together with the mighty Muhl r41to complete the task. I load the Feather with Personna Lab or Medical preps and the Muhl is equipped with a Derby. My shave routine is Shower, use Floid Shaving oil, then lather up using a bowl full of whipped up shaving soap. Most of my shaving is accomplished with the Feather. Then I finish off the bristles that the Feather didn't quite get with the gentlest pressure on the Muhl and my face is BBS. I have to switch out the blades on the Feather at least after the 2nd shave and the Muhl takes maybe 4 or 5 total. If I really want to speed things up I will use Feather or Kai Razor Blades in the ASD2. Just be mindful of the fact that these razor blades are extremely sharp and will gouge you even when loaded in a Feather AS D2. For people who don't suffer from the same facial conditions that I have, the Feather ASD2 with Feather or Kai Blades will do the trick IF you use the razor at the proper angle. Read the other reviews to get an idea on how best to use the ASD2 in these cases.
Muhle R41 from 2011
Muhle R41 Double Edge Safety Razor, Open Comb I revisited the R41, with Persona Reds and tallow based soap. It does VERY well, and I compared to Merkur 38C. R41 gets closer with fewer passes. However, it takes skill. It is not for beginners, but once technique is refined; it is a GREAT close smooth shave!!
Great Product Package
Proraso Set, Menthol and Eucalyptus After using the sampler pack that came with the kit I bought from here, I decided to do some reading on which were good soaps and creams to try. Almost hands down everyone said Proraso green was a great starter and they were right! The menthol and eucalyptus is not over powering and after application, it fades about a half-hour later. My wife loves the smell and she does not care for strong scents. I use the pre/post shave cream just after I shower and after I am done shaving, I think it has made a difference in prepping my face for a shave, but that is just me. The cream is excellent, a little does go a long way! So there is no need to squeeze a lot out, just make sure to add enough water. The splash is refreshing and does disinfect your face. It is not over powering either. This is a great starter for beginners. I will be a life-long Proraso user.
Great Set with Great Starter Options
Safety Razor Set of Best Sellers I can't say how much I love my Merkur 34C Heavy Duty! This was my first attempt at wet shaving (I had used cartridges and electric until now) and I can say this kit was everything a beginner needs. The razor is great, it is a moderate aggressiveness, so you shouldn't feel like your face is being attacked. The stand is beautiful and simple. The Omega 636 Silvertip Badger brush is a great brush. Once broken in it is very gentle on your face and I enjoy how it feels. The sampler was nice, but I think a customer could be better served with a tube of Proraso green shaving cream or a tub of Proraso green shaving soap--especially if they are a new to wet shaving. Lastly, I worked through the complimentary Merkur blade that comes with the 34C and it was great. I have tried the Personna blades, but can't say I'm in love with them. They are sharp and work, but I was always left with some minor cuts. I've now tried the feather blades and those have been wonderful. I am looking forward to trying the Astra and Crystal blades.

This is a great starter kit and I would recommend it.
Muhle R41 Double Edge Safety Razor, Open Comb
Muhle R41 Double Edge Safety Razor, Open Comb My favorite razor. I shave my entire head every other day. The only thing is you have to be super careful. If you go too fast you will cut yourself. I was used to blowing through a shave in 5 minutes with a Proglide. But this definitely gives you the closest shave a any razor. Take the time and do it right.
New Muhle R41
Muhle R41 Double Edge Safety Razor, Open Comb I have the old version of this razor as well as some vintage Gillettes and a Muhle 89. I bought the older version of the R41 because the 89 and other razors were not going me the close shave I wanted. However, that R41 was very difficult to use due to what I (and other gentlemen on various shaving forums and reviews) believed to be excessive blade exposure. The new (since 2013, I'm late to the party). R41 has corrected much of what we did not like, while keeping the razor aggressive enough for BBS shaves with little effort.
Feather ASD2
Feather AS-D2 Stainless Safety Razor I use this with feather blades and am new to using a safety razor. I have rarely nicked myself and have not experienced shaving rash. However you need to respect this razor/blade combination. Use a light touch and all will be well. The razor is a very fine shaving tool and it is weighted really well. It feels great in your hand. Cleaning and changing blades is a snap. It's pricy but you get what you pay for. I would definitely buy this again.
